Barak Dror, PhD, MBA

Dr. Barak Dror: Barak has a master's degree in molecular biology with an emphasis on mushroom-plant relationships and a doctorate in biotechnology focusing on computational biology. For the past 3 years, Barak has served as the senior scientist and head of a development team at a startup in the field of foodtech, which uses mushroom fermentation in the field of alternative protein. As part of his position at the company, Barak led the R&D program from idea to final product, dealing in the gable field from laboratory scale to pilot scale and working with subcontractors. Barak managed teams in the fields of biochemistry, mycology, and data science so that he was able to lead a program and development team from end to end. In the field of mycology, Barak planned The strategy for developing the mushroom varieties of the company he worked for, as well as the growing and fermentation systems, including the downstream process, which are relevant areas for this project.


Barak successfully led the development of 3 products from an idea to a rewarding final product and also led the writing of 2 patents. In addition to his research degrees, Barak holds a master's degree in business administration (MBA) from the Hebrew University with an emphasis on biomedical entrepreneurship and previously served as a scientific and technological development consultant for technological incubators in the fields of agriculture, food, and climate. In 2017, Barak founded the Hebrew University's Entrepreneurship Center. Has connections in the fields of biotech and climate-tech.
